Oneself here i term it as not only the body, but also the soul with mind. You might knowing that when single being is dead, he take his mind with him. There are three things which come with you after death, and those are: Mind, Soul, and your actions (karma). Is is being said that no one teaches you to breath, when you enter in the very life. you bring this method of breathing with you from past life. It is said that mind (man) never dies. It comes with you after death. That is why different person are having different type of fear, phobia in their life although they have not faced any incident with that phobia in their current life. Just because they have some incident in their past life, they are fearing with that e.g. someone has fear of height, someone have of some animals, some with water, fire, etc. It can be because of the incident they had in their past life. Also sex is the thing which every being know by born. No one has to join classes to learn sex. It also comes with the past life impressions with mind. 

It is been said that the one who does not have such impressions gets moksha(freedom) from birth-die cycle. There are several ways to lesser or erase such impressions from mind and removing mental garbage:

Meditation
Yoga
Bhakti
Sudershan kriya

What is Meditation?
Meditation is that which gives you deep rest.
The rest in meditation is said to be deeper than deep. The benefits of meditation are manifold. A calm mind, good concentration, clarity of perception, improvement in communication, inner strength, and relaxation are all natural results of meditating regularly. In today’s world where stress catches on faster than the eye can see or the mind can perceive, meditation is no more a luxury. It is a necessity. Meditation holds the power to unconditional happiness and peace of mind.
